General questions For every type of session

How do I book a session?

Call John on 07828 696624 or the studio on 020 8428 4714, or send an enquiry through the website. Most bookings are arranged in a few minutes, at a time that suits you. The studio works by appointment only.

How much does a session cost?

Prices start from £130. Family sessions start at £190, corporate at £130, maternity at £220, baby and newborn at £260, and pet sessions are £200. You’ll find the full list, with session lengths, in the price table at the top of this page.

What’s included in the session fee?

Your session fee covers your time in the studio with John and a private viewing afterwards, where you choose your favourite images together. Prints and wall art are ordered separately and start from £15.

Where is the studio?

The studio is at 27 Pinner Park Avenue, Harrow HA2 6LG, on the border of Harrow and Pinner in north-west London.

Is there parking?

Yes. There is free parking at the studio.

How soon will I get my photos?

Your finished prints are ready within 7 days of your session.

What should we wear?

Plain, solid colours work best. Avoid big logos and busy patterns. For groups, choose colours that go well together rather than matching outfits exactly. Bring a change of clothes if you’d like a couple of different looks.

Do you offer gift vouchers?

Yes. Gift vouchers are available for every type of session, and they make a lovely present for new parents, grandparents or a family birthday.

I hate having my photo taken. Will it be awkward?

Almost everyone says that before their session. John has been putting nervous people at ease for over 30 years. There’s no rush, a cup of tea on arrival, and no stiff posing. Most people are relaxed within minutes.

What kind of prints and wall art can I order?

Prints, wooden blocks, desktop acrylics, metal prints, canvases, hand-made framed prints and layflat albums. John will help you choose sizes and finishes at your viewing.

Family from £190 · 1 hour

How long is a family session and how much is it?

Family sessions last one hour and start from £190.

Can grandparents and the wider family come along?

Yes. Three generations in one photo is one of the nicest portraits you can have. Just let John know how many people are coming when you book so he can plan the set-up.

What if my children won’t cooperate?

That’s completely normal, and John has seen it all. Sessions move at the children’s pace, with breaks when they need them. Some of the best photos come from the moments in between poses.

Can our dog be in the family photos?

We love pets, but family sessions are just for the people in your family, so we’re not able to include dogs. If you’d like photos of your dog, we recommend booking one of our dedicated Pet Sessions. Your dog gets a full hour in the spotlight, and you’re welcome to join in for a few photos together. See our Pets Q&A for more details.

Can we get individual solo photos of the baby during a family session?

Family sessions are reserved purely for group photos and family interactions. If you are looking for dedicated solo portraits, milestone tracking, or newborn-style photography for your baby, we highly recommend booking one of our specialized Baby Portrait Sessions instead.

Corporate from £130 · about 45 minutes

How long is a corporate session and how much is it?

Corporate sessions last about 45 minutes and start from £130.

What can I use the photos for?

LinkedIn profiles, company websites, team pages, press releases and speaker profiles. You’ll get a clean, professional headshot that looks like you on a good day.

Can you photograph our whole team?

Yes. Every member of the team is photographed with the same lighting and background, so the headshots look consistent on your website. Get in touch for a quote for larger teams.

What should I wear for a headshot?

Wear what you’d wear to an important meeting. Plain colours photograph better than patterns. Bring a second top or jacket if you’d like a choice.

Maternity from £220 · up to 1½ hours

How long is a maternity session and how much is it?

Maternity sessions last up to 1½ hours and start from £220.

When is the best time for a maternity shoot?

Most mums come in between 30 and 36 weeks, when the bump is clearly showing and you’re still comfortable. Book early so you can choose a date that suits you.

Can my partner and children be in the photos?

Yes. Many maternity sessions include a few shots with your partner and older children as well as portraits of you on your own.

What should I bring?

A couple of outfits you feel good in. Fitted clothes show your bump best. The studio is warm and private, with time to change between looks.

Baby & newborn from £260 · up to 2 hours

How long is a baby session and how much is it?

Baby and newborn sessions last up to 2 hours and start from £260.

How old should my baby be?

For newborn photos, the first couple of weeks is ideal, when babies are sleepiest. It’s a good idea to get in touch before your due date. Older babies photograph beautifully at milestones such as sitting up and first birthdays.

What if my baby needs feeding or changing?

That’s why baby sessions last up to two hours. There’s plenty of time for feeds, changes and cuddles, and the session goes at your baby’s pace.

Can parents and siblings be in the photos?

Yes. Photos of parents with their newborn, and big brothers and sisters meeting the baby, are often the family’s favourites.

Pets £200 · 1 hour

How long is a pet session and how much is it?

Pet sessions last one hour and cost £200.

What kinds of pets do you photograph?

Mostly dogs and cats, but get in touch about any pet. John will tell you what will work best in the studio.

What if my pet won’t sit still?

That’s what the patience is for. Bring their favourite treats or a toy that gets their attention, and John will work at their speed.

Can the family be in the photos with our pet?

Yes. You can have portraits of your pet on their own and with the people who love them.
